Did Eminem Have The Best Year Of His Career?

Two weeks ago, MTV News crowned Kanye West as the 2010 Man of the Year. However, a lot of extremely vocal fans thought that the individual picked for the number two position — rapperEminem — should have been in first place by miles. There is an excellent case to be made for Slim Shady, as he had a tremendously successful year that saw him drop one of his most critically-acclaimed and commercially successful albums of his career (Recovery is on track to be the best-selling album of 2010), top the charts twice with two killer singles ("Not Afriad" and the Rihanna-assisted "Love the Way You Lie"), co-headline the biggest concerts of the year (the extremely well-received Home and Home shows with Jay-Z) and re-ignite the debate over whether or not he is the greatest rapper of all time (an argument that will continue ad infinitum).

With all of those accomplishments (and with the narrative to go along with it), is it possible thatEminem not only had a great year but perhaps his single best year in his career? Let's take a look back at the major accomplishments year-by-year for proof.

Pre-1999
In the era before signing to Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, Eminem hit peaks when winning rap competitions (including the 1997 Rap Olympics), attracting label offers and releasing music himself (including Infinite and The Slim Shady EP). But he also had trouble in his personal life that included a suicide attempt. Eventually, he signed a major label deal in 1998.

1999
1999 saw the release of his major-label debut The Slim Shady LP, which moved three million copies in that calendar year alone. Both "My Name Is" and "Guilty Conscience" became radio hits and MTV staples. Em also made key contributions to Dr. Dre's smash album 2001, including "What's the Difference" and "Forgot About Dre."

2000
The Marshall Mathers LP dropped, moving 1.76 million copies in a week and breaking Snoop Dogg's record for the biggest opening week in the history of hip-hop. "The Real Slim Shady," "Stan" and "The Way I Am" all became huge hits (with "The Real Slim Shady" representing his highest chart position yet). Some of his biggest feuds erupted, including his tiff with Christina Aguilera. Em also appeared on tracks with Redman, Method Man, Xzibit and Sticky Fingaz.

2001
In a mad flurry of activity, Eminem toured as a part of both the Up in Smoke Tour (alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre) and the Family Values Tour (which he co-headlined with Limp Bizkit). He also oversaw the release of D12's Devil's Night, hooked up with Jay-Z for "Renegade" on Jigga's The Blueprint album and performed "Stan" on stage with Elton John in a classic television moment.

2002
The Eminem Show dropped over the summer, bringing with it the hit singles "Without Me" and "Cleaning Out My Closet." Eminem also starred in the semi-autobiographical film "8 Mile," which not only featured Slim Shady's excellent acting but also the smash hit "Lose Yourself," which was his first chart-topping hit.

2003
Eminem took home an Oscar for "Lose Yourself," then focused on the remaining singles from The Eminem Show (including "Business" and "Sing for the Moment").

2004
Em released Encore, his fourth album, with also topped the Billboard album chart. He scored another big single with "Just Lose It" and put out his first real protest anthem in "Mosh." He also got into a beef with Michael Jackson over the "Just Lose It" video (which referenced both Jackson's child molestation trial and an incident that saw Jackson's hair catch fire during a commercial shoot in 1984). The second D12 album D12 World also dropped in 2004.

2005
Though he continued to service the singles from Encore (including "Like Toy Soldiers" and "Ass Like That"), rumors swirled that Eminem was retiring from music altogether. Those rumors picked up steam with the release of the career-spanning Curtain Call: The Hits later in 2005. However, his collaboration efforts continued with tag-teams with 50 Cent, the Game, Trick-Trick, Fat Joe and Obie Trice.

2006
Despite a guest appearance on Akon's "Smack That" and the late release of the compilationEminem Presents: The ReUp, it was pretty quiet for Slim Shady.

2007
Outside of two high-profile guest spots ("Touchdown" with T.I. and "Peep Show" with 50 Cent), Eminem laid low.

2008
Another quiet year, highlighted only by his vocal and production work with Trick-Trick.

2009
Eminem emerged from hibernation with Relapse, his first brand-new album in five years. It immediately scored some big hits, including "Crack a Bottle," "3 A.M." and "We Made You."Relapse: The Refill followed later in 2009, as did his contribution to Drake's "Forever," largely considered to be the best collaboration of that year.

Eminem Ruled 2010 -- And Here's How

Rapper rose from ashes of disappointing album to top of the charts and 10 Grammy nominations.

It's fitting that Eminem is planning to return to the big screen next year in the "8 Mile"-inspired boxing film "Southpaw." Because like Rocky after he was counted down and out so many times in that famous pugilist movie serial, Marshall Mathers seemed like he'd run out of gas in 2009 only to come storming all the way back, and then some, in 2010 to post one of his biggest and baddest years to date.

At a time when younger artists like Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Lady Gaga are relying on social media, a dizzying blitz of promotional appearances and concerts, and a nonstop hype machine to keep their careers stoked, Eminem's path back to the top of the musical heap was decidedly old-school: He released a great album in Recovery that emotionally connected with fans thanks to some of the most hook-heavy songs of his career while maintaining an elusive persona that kept them guessing.

"On Recovery, he was really able to tap into the emotive 2002 stuff that people loved in '8 Mile,' " said Complex Editor in Chief Noah Callahan-Bever. "And I think that the fact that he's not tech-savvy or any of that stuff really doesn't hurt him because he's able to cultivate a little bit of a mystery about himself and his comings and goings. That exclusivity creates more value to his limited presence."

While songs like mega first single "Not Afraid" and the inescapable Rihanna hookup "Love the Way You Lie" were getting wall-to-wall spins at radio, Em made only a few promotional appearances, played just a handful of dates -- including the lauded Home and Home shows with Jay-Z -- and managed to keep that air of inscrutability about himself while putting up the best sales figures for any album released in 2010. The less you saw of him, the more you wanted to see him.

"I think it kind of benefited because [of] the whole backstory behind the album," Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, former executive editor of The Fader, said about the drama surrounding Slim Shady's second comeback attempt after five years in drug-induced exile and 2009's so-so reception forRelapse. "And his comeback from a bad album ... the whole thing with the pills, and I think it kind of lent to his mystery. There's something to be said for rappers who have a trillion Twitter followers but at the same time you kind of don't want to be able to say whatever you want to your favorite rapper. I think that he kind of kept his integrity in the way that he needed to as an older rapper."

Putting out a barrage of cameo verses has been the go-to move for up-and-comers like Drake and Nicki Minaj as a way to establish their brand. But Marshall borrowed that same new-school page and made it feel classic by being very selective about which songs he lent his voice to. And, almost without exception, every choice he made was an instant classic, from his killer verse on Drake's "Forever" to a solid duet with Lil Wayne on "Drop the World," some tasty bars on B.o.B's "Airplanes" and a nod to the new kids on the block on Nicki's "Roman's Revenge."

Most of his peers seem to believe that more is more -- more endorsements, more products, more interviews, more guests on their tracks -- even as Em came off as the wily veteran who picks his high-percentage shots while the rest of the squad is firing off endless jumpers.

"When Eminem went away, the feeling of like, 'Well, that whole market's going away. All those people, they're just dispersing off into the ether and no one's gonna be ready for him when he's ready to come back,' " said New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica of the excitement that greeted the rapper's return to form. "And what I think you realize this year is that all those people are like sleeper cells and all got activated. All of a sudden, 'Oh, Eminem's back. It's OK to buy his CD again. I didn't have anyone I feel like I wanted to buy for the last two or three years; now I feel like I can commit to Eminem.' "

What also became clear this year, Caramanica said, is that unlike flash-in-the-pan pop rappers or mainstream acts whose audiences don't grow with them as they mature, Eminem's fans have been loyal, even as he's picked up a whole new generation of followers thanks to his more accessible new songs. The evidence of that trend can be seen in the fact that, months after its release, Recovery was still routinely hanging around the top 20, if not top 10, on the Billboard albums chart, an indication that new fans were being brought onboard every week.

That slow and steady, measured approach clearly paid off, as Em won two VMAs (off of eight nominations) in September and ended the year by loading up with a leading 10 Grammy nominations and a #2 spot on MTV News' Man of the Year countdown. You can be sure when the Grammys are handed out in February, Marshall's name will be mentioned a few times, because if there's anything the Recording Academy (and, let's face it, all of America) loves, it's a comeback.

Eminem and Lil Wayne: 7 Ways To Continue Their 'SNL' Success

The duo took the stage on the set of "Saturday Night Live" this weekend and when they were finished, the pair left it better off than when they started. After teaming up at the top of the show to perform their collaborative hit, "No Love," alongside a full band, the lethal combination split up at the end of the show for the second half of their production with Em performing his rock-influenced hit, "Won't Back Down" before giving Wayne control of the stage, who wowed us with his performance of "6 Foot 7 Foot." Not bad, fellas — not bad at all.

Now, it's time to capitalize on that success. Despite the fact that Em and Wayne are widely considered to be two of the greatest rappers of all-time, they haven't collaborated on material together nearly enough. But with their recent "SNL" performance behind us, we hope they'll reconsider that decision. To help them along, RapFix came up with a list of seven things the MCs can do to build on their "SNL" success. Hey, guys, all we want for Christmas is ...

1. An Eminem-Lil Wayne collaborative LP!

The first thing that came to our minds after seeing Em and Wayne perform was "Why haven't these guys recorded more songs together?" The second: "And how crazy would an entire Em-Weezy album be?!" Clearly, this is a little bit of a pipe dream. Weezy's working on Tha Carter IV and Em is still basking in the spotlight after receiving 10 Grammy nods for his last album, Recovery. But Wayne works quickly and Em sounds like he's always up for a challenge, so why not shoot for the stars and release a collaborative album? Hey, if Kanye West and Jay-Z can find the time to do one, you guys can, too.

2. A nationwide tour starring Eminem and Lil Wayne

Em hasn't toured the country in what seems like forever. And Wayne hasn't toured for almost a year now thanks to the prison bid he had to complete during the majority of 2010. Neither has anything lined up for the immediate future, either so, why not hit the road together and do something special? After checking them out on "SNL," it doesn't seem like their egos clash, so that shouldn't be a problem. And Em and Weezy are both staying away from booze and drugs — albeit for different reasons — so the support system they could offer one another would be ideal for both. Aw, rappers can get along, see?

3. A series of Em/Wayne late-night talk show appearances

OK, maybe a tour is a reach, but when it comes to performing, why stop at "SNL"? If Em and Weezy want to make the most of "No Love," there are a ton of other late-night shows that they could visit too. From "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to George Lopez's "Lopez Tonight," there are a handful of late-night stops the duo could make to promote their single. Hey, if nothing else, there's probably still a couple extra bucks to make from the song, guys.

4. A mini-concert at the 2011 NBA All-Star Game

For whatever reason, the NBA made a conscious effort not to include rappers during performances at the ASG last week. The result: Um, that "interesting" Usher performance at halftime of the game. This year, NBA Commissioner David Stern should extend an invite to Em and Weezy. With the "SNL" performance on their resume, there's no reason to think a mini-concert at the 2011 ASG featuring the two of them would be anything short of historic.

5. An appearance on the 2011 Grammy Awards stage

Let's take this show all the way to the top. The Grammys are only about two months away and that's the one award show that everyone is bound to be watch. The Grammys are also pretty open to having rap performers do their thing (remember Kanye, Jay-Z, Wayne and T.I. doing "Swagga Like Us" in 2009?) so we think they'd welcome the idea of an Eminem-Lil Wayne performance with open arms. It would also give the guys an opportunity to branch off and bring other MCs into the mix as well (Em and Nicki Minaj's "Roman's Revenge," anyone?). Bottom line: It'd be a good look for rap.

6. A remix of Lil Wayne's "6 Foot 7 Foot" featuring Eminem

Ohhhhhh-weeeeee! Can you imagine Em getting the opportunity to rip Bangladesh's instrumental? Let's just hope these two got together backstage on Saturday night and that this is already in the works. We can only hope.

Eminem and Lil Wayne Rock 'Saturday Night Live'

Eminem and Lil Wayne sent "Saturday Night Live" viewers into the holiday season with a double dose of hip-hop over the weekend.

The rap luminaries first rocked Em's steely Haddaway-sampling joint "No Love,"backed by a live band on a set decked out with festive holiday decorations. Both MCs kept their style casually cool: Wayne rocked a white T-shirt and black plants while Em sported a brown jacket and gray beanie. Weezy spit the first verse with his signature unhinged energy, asserting his return to the live-television circuit. Em helmed the rest of the song, nimbly dropping his lyrics with abandon.

The MCs split up for the final performance, with Eminem kicking things off with the Pink-assisted cut "Won't Back Down." Outfitted in a black jacket and cap, Em rocked the joint with the help of a hype man, spitting bars like, "How you douche bags feel?/ Knowing you're disposable, Summer's Eve, Massengill." When Em wrapped up, the Detroit MC ceded the mic toWeezy, who hopped up onstage solo for the recently released "6'7"." The live electric guitar-laced version was a super-charged departure from the Bangladesh-crafted banger, with Wayne knocking out the lyrics with his high-powered flow and vibing with a slew of similarly amped musicians.

The "SNL" appearance is the latest team-up in a long list collaborations between the Shady boss and the Young Money captain. Em guested on Weezy's "Drop the World" from the New Orleans vet's rock-centric album "Rebirth." Wayne returned the favor for Em's Recovery cut "No Love."

Is Eminem's Recovery The Best Album Of The Year?

This week, MTV News has been taking stock of the year that was in the world of albums. It's a curious thing to think about in 2010, as the current single-dominated culture seems to have pushed the concept of the album into the background. Full-length albums used to be the standard by which music was measured, but now it feels a bit antiquated. Still, putting together a complete album is a difficult thing, so the albums that really excel are that much more special in the current musical climate.

With all that in mind, MTV News' James Montgomery declared Kanye West's jaw-dropping opus My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy as the best album of the year (a sentiment agreed upon by the likes of Rolling Stone and Spin, both of whom had West at the top of their respective best-of lists). That has been a popular choice this year, though not all of the commenters concurred. Many believed that Eminem's Recovery was the best album of the year (and that it was especially too low on Montgomery's top 20 list). Endorsements also came in for some of the biggest (but ignored) albums of the year, including Taylor Swift's Speak Now, Rihanna's Loud and Drake's Thank Me Later (all of which could make legitimate arguments for the top spot).

But ultimately, we'll leave the final verdict to you. There are 10 albums below, synthesized from Montgomery's list, the suggestions of the commenters and some Grammy nominees for Album of the Year. Vote for your favorite and leave your arguments in the comments!

Eminem Is MTV News' #2 Man Of The Year

Em raised the bar in 2010, thanks to a blockbuster album, hometown stadium shows and awards galore.

If there's one thing we've learned by now about Eminem, it's this: Never count him out.

The 38-year-old Detroit legend seemed like he was in a career funk last year with the release of the long-awaited but unevenly dark Relapse, which chronicled his near-death experience with drug addiction and left some fans a bit worried about whether he'd finally run out of lyrical magic tricks. But what a difference a year makes. Near the end of 2009, we began getting excited about the promised, more "emotionally driven" sequel, Relapse 2.Twelve months and an entirely different album later, Eminem has the year's best-selling release, handfuls of Grammy nominations and a fresh-eyed take on life that can only bode well for his next musical adventure.

2010 Highlights: As 2010 dawned, February brought Em joining Drake, Kanye West and Lil Wayne for a rousing, bleep-tastic performance of "Forever" at the Grammys with a tease of "Drop the World," his hookup with Weezy that hit screens and iPods a month later, bringing together two of hip-hop's biggest names for a rough-and-ready cut. He killed it again with his verse onB.o.B's "Airplanes Pt. 2" and then the shocking news broke April 14 that "there is no Relapse 2." Fans were dumbstruck, but not for long, as the MC clarified later that day that he would be dropping a whole new album called Recovery on June 22.

April's release of the first single, "Not Afraid," provided proof that Slim Shady would be taking a more positive, uplifting approach on his sixth major-label album, an encouraging note hammered home by lyrics on the song in which the rapper admitted that Relapse wasn't his best work. In the run-up to the release, "Not Afraid" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and there was more cause for celebration when Jay-Z and Marshall announced a slate of hometown stadium shows, which would represent one of the few live appearances the Detroit spitter would make in 2010.

Then, despite leaking two weeks early, Recovery easily notched the highest debut of the year to date when it moved a gargantuan 741,000 copies in its first week, topping the charts for nearly two months on its way to selling more than 3 million copies to take the sales crown for 2010.

After crushing it with "Not Afraid," Em struck platinum again with an even bigger hit, his domestic-violence ballad "Love the Way You Lie," a duet with Rihanna that featured an iconic video starring Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan as the song's protagonists.

August brought a hefty eight VMA nominations and September the long-awaited shows with Jay, which found rap's two biggest headliners torching the stage for thrilled fans in Detroit and NYC.

In between the gigs, though, Shady found time to open up the VMAs with performances of "Not Afraid" and "Love the Way You Lie" with a surprise cameo from Rihanna on a night when he took home two Moonmen.

By October, Em was talking about being in the lab with mentor Dr. Dreworking on the latter's long-awaited Detox album and topping MTV News' Hottest MCs in the Game list. Eminem was also getting more shine for hisduet with Nicki Minaj on "Roman's Revenge" from her Pink Friday debut and another collabo with Rihanna on her track "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)."

As 2010 came to a close, he could be heard on T.I.'s "That's All She Wrote" and had locked down a "Saturday Night Live" appearance with Lil Wayne for December 18. He wasn't done yet, as he led all artists with 10 Grammy nominations, landed at #9 on MTV News' Top Songs of 2010 with "Love the Way You Lie," took top spots on the album-sales chart on iTunes and Amazon.com and inked a deal to play a boxer in the "8 Mile" inspired "Southpaw."

Not bad, right?

Eminem To Play A Boxer In '8 Mile'-Inspired 'Southpaw'

Detroit MC set to return to the big screen in film written by 'Sons of Anarchy' creator.

Nearly nine years after making his big-screen debut in "8 Mile," Eminem has lined up another film project.

According to Deadline, DreamWorks has picked up "Southpaw," a drama in which Eminem will play a "fast-rising welterweight boxer who brawls his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to tragedy."

"Sons of Anarchy" creator/executive producer Kurt Sutter will write the script. Sutter explained that the project is several years in the making, borne from meetings with Eminem and his team, and hearing the rapper open up about his real-life struggles on his recent albums.

"I took meetings with Marshall's producing partners over the past seven years, looking for something to do together," Sutter told Deadline. "I know he's very selective and doesn't do a lot. But he shared so much of his personal struggle in this raw and very honest album [Recovery], one that I connected with on a lot of levels. He is very interested in the boxing genre, and it seemed like an apt metaphor, because his own life has been a brawl."

Sutter said the film will be a kind of continuation of "8 Mile," which garnered Em both critical acclaim and a Best Song Oscar for "Lose Yourself."

"We are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life," he said. "He'll play a world-champion boxer who really hits a hard bottom and has to fight to win back his life for his young daughter. At its core, this is a retelling of his struggles over the last five years of his life, using the boxing analogy.

"I love that the title refers to Marshall being a lefty," Sutter continued, "Which is to boxing what a white rapper is to hip-hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It's a much harder road for a southpaw than a right-handed boxer."

Sutter is set to begin writing immediately and will reportedly turn in a draft in February. No word on a possible release date or when production may begin.

Eminem Tops Grammy Nominations With 10, Including Best Album

Eminem received 10 Grammy nominations, the most of any artist, including album of the year for “Recovery,” which has sold more than 3 million copies.

The 38-year-old rapper, who records for Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records, is also a finalist for best song of the year, record of the year and best rap solo performance, the Recording Academy announced yesterday on a CBS Corp.telecast.

Bruno Mars received seven nominations, including two in the record-of-the-year category. Mars, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber performed on the one-hour program, which was hosted by rapper and actor LL Cool J. Exposure from award shows like the Grammys can propel album sales, Laura Martin, an analyst with Needham & Co. in Pasadena, California, said in an interview.

“These big platforms still have a lot of value and drive sales through sampling and discovery,” Martin said. “Being nominated or performing on one of these shows can sometimes be as good as actually winning.”

The nominations drew 7 million viewers last year and will help build a bigger audience for the Grammy Awards show, which will air Feb. 13 on CBS, the Recording Academy said in a statement.

Mars, the 25-year-old R&B performer, writer and producer who records for Warner Music Group Corp.’s Elektra label, was nominated in the record-of-the-year category for “Nothin’ on You” with rapper B.o.B, and as part of the producing team for Cee Lo Green’s “F*** You” -- also a song-of-the-year nominee. Record of the year recognizes a track’s artists, engineers and producers, while song of the year credits songwriters.

Three artists received six nominations: pop singer Lady Gaga, hip-hop impresario Jay-Z, and country group Lady Antebellum.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga, whose given name is Stefani Germanotta, was nominated for album of the year for “The Fame Monster,” and for best female pop vocal performance for “Bad Romance.” The 24-year-old singer, signed to Vivendi SA’s Universal Music, has sold 1.35 million copies of “The Fame Monster,” released in November 2009, according to data from Nielsen Soundscan.

Jay-Z’s collaboration with Alicia Keys for “Empire State of Mind” and Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” were nominated for record of the year, along with “Love the Way You Lie,” by Eminem featuring Rihanna, and the Cee Lo and B.o.B entries.

Eminem, born Marshall Mathers III, has won 11 Grammys, including best rap album for “Relapse” in 2009, 1999’s “The Slim Shady LP” and “The Marshall Mathers LP” in 2000.

“Recovery,” released in June, will compete for album of the year with “The Suburbs,” from Arcade Fire, “Need You Now,” “Fame Monster” and “Teenage Dream,” from Katy Perry.

Teen Star

Bieber, the teen star who gained prominence on Google Inc.’s YouTube, was nominated for best new artist, along with the rapper Drake, rock bands Florence & the Machine and Mumford & Sons, and jazz artist Esperanza Spalding.

Artists who released albums between Sept. 1, 2009 and Sept. 30, 2010 are eligible for the 53rd annual Grammys. Ballots are due Jan. 12, when they will be tabulated ahead of the awards show, according to the Recording Academy.

NOMINEES IN TOP CATEGORIES:

ALBUM OF THE YEAR: * The Suburbs -- Arcade Fire * Recovery -- Eminem * Need You Now -- Lady Antebellum * The Fame Monster -- Lady Gaga * Teenage Dream -- Katy Perry

RECORD OF THE YEAR: * Nothin’ On You -- B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars * Love the Way You Lie -- Eminem featuring Rihanna * F*** You -- Cee Lo Green * Empire State of Mind -- Jay-Z & Alicia Keys * Need You Now -- Lady Antebellum

EMINEM SLAUGHTERS IN THE STUDIO, SAYS JOE BUDDEN

Slaughterhouse's Joe Budden has hyped up fans' anticipation of his four-man crew joining forces with Slim Shady Records by revealing a recent studio session they had with Eminem.
"I feel like it's not fair, because [Em] can do so many different things with his voice," said Budden via JoeBuddenOffTV. "Everybody did they verse already. Em did his verse first, Royceheard it first, did his second, then Crook did his, and then Em rewrote his...Joell's is done -- but I think he might be rewriting his...It wouldn't be as difficult to do a song with Jay-Z, because he's just an incredible rapper. Eminem, he can give you 20 different voices, he can to 20 million different things in a verse. It's not really about incredible rapping with him. I think I'm an incredible rapper; I put my rapping up against anybody else's rapping. But it's more than rapping with Eminem." (Joe Budden Off TV)

Eminem Feat Rihanna "Love The Way You Lie" Part 2 Lyrics

[Rihanna]
On the first page of our story
the future seemed so bright
then this thing turned out so evil
I don't know why I'm still surprised
even angels have their wicked schemes
and you take that to new extremes
but you'll always be my hero
even though you've lost your mind

[Chorus]
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
but that's all right because I like the way it hurts
just gonna stand there and hear me cry
but that's all right because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
Ohhh, I love the way you lie

[Rihanna]
Now there's gravel in our voices
glass is shattered from the fight
in this tug of war, you'll always win
even when I'm right
'cause you feed me fables from your hand
with violent words and empty threats
and it's sick that all these battles
are what keeps me satisfied

[Chorus]

[Rihanna]
So maybe I'm a masochist
I try to run but I don't wanna ever leave
til the walls are goin' up
in smoke with all our memories
[Eminem]
This morning, you wake, a sunray hits your face
smeared makeup as we lay in the wake of destruction
hush baby, speak softly, tell me I'll be sorry
that you pushed me into the coffee table last night
so I can push you off me
try and touch me so I can scream at you not to touch me
run out the room and I'll follow you like a lost puppy
baby, without you, I'm nothing, I'm so lost, hug me
then tell me how ugly I am, but that you'll always love me
then after that, shove me, in the aftermath of the
destructive path that we're on, two psychopaths but we
know that no matter how many knives we put in each other's backs
that we'll have each other's backs, 'cause we're that lucky
together, we move mountains, let's not make mountains out of molehills,
you hit me twice, yeah, but who's countin'?
I may have hit you three times, I'm startin' to lose count
but together, we'll live forever, we found the youth fountain
our love is crazy, we're nuts, but I refused counsellin'
this house is too huge, if you move out I'll burn all two thousand
square feet of it to the ground, ain't shit you can do about it
with you I'm in my f-ckin' mind, without you, I'm out it

Eminem Looks Forward To Lil Wayne's Prison Release

'I can't wait to hear what he comes up with next,' Detroit MC says of his 'No Love' collaborator.

Throughout his career, Eminem may have been involved in his share of media beefs, but lately, he's showing nothing but love for the Young Money crew. His aggressive Nicki Minaj collaboration, "Roman's Revenge," came out over the weekend, when he also called into DJ Whoo Kid's show on Em's own Shade 45 satellite radio station and discussed how much he's looking forward to Lil Wayne's impending release from prison.

"I'm definitely looking forward to Wayne getting out," MTV's 2010 Hottest MC in the Game told the New York DJ on Saturday. "I can't wait to hear what he comes up with next." With a series of Weezy songs already on the charts, the Detroit MC admitted that the lyricist's comeback is set to shake up the music scene, saying, "Yeah man, it's going to be real interesting."

In the meantime, Wayne and Em's "No Love" collaboration has been in heavy rotation. Calling himself a "spokesperson" for victims of bullying, Eminem said it was easy to link that topic with the song's lyrics.

"As far as conceptually with the video, we felt like that's kind of what the song was saying — kicking somebody when they're down or somebody being bullied or picking on somebody," he explained. "So we kind of just came up with that concept and went with it for the video."

With Recovery still riding high on the charts, many fans have wondered whether the MC will hit the road for a tour. Unfortunately, Em admitted that while he has a series of shows lined up, he has no plans for a full-length tour at the moment.

"I'm doing a lot of spot dates here and there like different places and sh--, but we haven't launched [a tour]," he said. "We don't have any plans in the near future right now to go all out with a full-fledged tour or anything like that. I'm kind of just doing things like different cities and dipping in and out, which is basically what I have been doing. I have a show in Brazil coming up next week."

EMINEM BACK IN THE STUDIO WITH DR. DRE

Eminem recently announced that he's back in the studio with longtime producer/mentor Dr. Dre, during an interview with Angela Yee on his Shade 45 satellite radio channel.

"I'm in the studio right now, still working," Em revealed. "I would just say I'm in the studio with Dre right now, I'll just say that. He's in the next room. There's nothing going on right now, but pretty soon he'll play a beat and I might rap to it."

Despite Em's cryptic explanation, it has been reported that the Detroit rapper is likely recording vocals for Dre's long-delayed album 'Detox.'

Though currently "taking a break" at the moment, this has been a busy year for Eminem, who successfully launched a comeback with his critically acclaimed album 'Recovery,' and has recently been announced as a surprise guest on albums byRihanna and Nicki Minaj.

Meanwhile, Em's Shade 45 channel will be celebrating its sixth anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 30. In honor of this event, Em will be appearing on Whoo Kid's show on Saturday at 5PM, along with Lloyd Banks, Tom Green and more.
